The defeated governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos state, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has asked Nigerians to demand the police to arrest Chairman of the Lagour Parks Management Agency, Musiliu Akinsanya (popularly called MC Oluomo) before the arrest of afro-singer, Seun Kuti, over his assault on a police officer on Saturday.
This was just as many other Nigerians are bringing back memories of attacks and assaults o innocent citizens by policemen.
Rhodes-Vivour, in a message he posted on his twitter page As Seun Kuti will be arrested by Nigerian Police, if you want MC Oluomo to be arrested too, kindly Like, Retweet and tag the Nigerian Police.”
Another twitter user, Will E, wrote, “If police called MC Oluomo’s threat to Igbos and none indigenes in Lagos state “a joke” a joke that eventually led to loss of lives, then it’s safe to say Seun Kuti was doing comedy skit in that second video. The slap on the police officer wasn’t a real slap. It was a joke.”
Already, there are many videos of assaults on Nigerians by policemen which have been posted to remind the police of the many assaults of its men on citizens.
One of such videos is that of massive flogging of a lady, Tola Azeez, in Iwo, Osun state.
The police had dismissed officers caught on video at the time flogging her.
Another video which is circulating online is that of a man who was slapped several times in the presence of his wife.
Also in the midst is that of a lady who was seen ordered to sit on the ground in the open and was flogged on her buttocks by a man wearing an army uniform.
NPO Reports recalls that brutality of the police had led to the campaign for the removal of the SARS officials in 2020. The protest later turned bloody with many people killed at the Lekki Tollgate hub of the protests.
