The Osun state House of Assembly’s Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) lawmakers have reaffirmed their backing of the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, for his re-election bid ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
They also pledged their loyalty to the PDP, stressing that they are not for sale.
The lawmakers made these known at a press conference held on Wednesday.
Speaking of behalf of his colleagues, the House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Adewale Egbedun, reiterated that the PDP lawmakers remain loyal, united, and fully committed to the Adeleke-led administration.
Egbedun maintained that there is no division in the house while also dismissing the rumours of defection.
The Speaker said the members of the Assembly is unmoved by the pressure as they remain committed to keeping Osun’s people’s trust in them.
“We felt it is necessary for us to speak directly to you today. Not just to clear the air, but to state the fact as they are. The 25 honourable members of the Osun State House of Assembly elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are united, loyal, and fully committed to the government of his excellency, Senator Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, and to the party that brought us here which is PDP.
“There is no division in this house. There is no defection. There is no crisis. The rumours flying around are simply rumours and we are not in the business of chasing shadows.
“We the honourable members are men of honour. We are not for sale. We are not moved by noise or pressure.
“We hold the mandate of our people and we intend to keep that trust with the dignity, loyalty, and clear conscience.
“We come from the grassroot, we see and feel the pulse of the people every day. And let me say it without hesitation, the people of Osun are with this government.
“They have seen what he is doing. They have felt the impact of his leadership. They know he is working and so do we. We also want to reinstate our confidence in the leadership of our party in Osun state led by Hon. Sunday Bisi.” He said.
While reiterated that the PDP remains strong and focus, Egbedun declared the lawmakers’ support of Adeleke’s second term bid as they pledged to return him to office by 2026.
“The PDP is strong, united, and focused. We are proud to stand under that banner. To be clear, we are not just here to defend what we believe.
“We are here to declare our full support to the governor’s second term. In 2026 by the grace of God and the will of the people, we will return him to office to continue the good works that he have started. ” The Osun Speaker added.
