2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has paid a visit to elder statesman, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) amid the ongoing legal rift between him and human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi.
Obi, as seen in a post on X, travelled to Ekiti state where he met with the founder of Afe Babalola University and retired legal practitioner at his office on Monday.
He reportedly pleaded with Chief Afe Babalola on behalf of Farotimi over the defamatory law suit filed against him.
Following his meeting with Babalola, the former Anambra state governor visited the Farotimi at the Correctional Service Command, Ado-Ekiti, where he held a private meeting with the embattled lawyer and activist.
Farotimi is set to appear in court today for the continuation of his trial despite being granted N50 million bail yesterday with the case adjourned till 29th of January, 2025.
NPO reported that human rights lawyer was arrested last week Tuesday by the Ekiti state Police Command at his Lagos office last week over alleged defamation of Chief Afe Babalola.
He was arraigned before an Ekiti state Magistrate court on Wednesday with 16-count charge bothering on libelous claims against the elder statesman in his publication.
