Popular Nigerian publisher and former Presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as he announced plan to join the new African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition party.
The Ovation Magazine publisher disclosed this in a letter of resignation shared on his Instagram handle on Thursday.
As contained in the letter addressed to his , Ward Chairman in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu announced the immediate withdrawal of his membership with the opposition party.
On reason behind his membership withdrawal, the publisher alleged that the PDP has been hijacked by anti-democratic forces both within and outside the party.
He disclosed plan to join the ADC labelled the PDP a carcass which he now abandons.
The letter read; “I wish to inform you of my decision to resign from our political party, PDP, with immediate effect.
“My reason is simple and straightforward. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight.
“It is, therefore, honourable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as thc African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“I will forever treasure the kind support you gave me at all times. Thank you, Sir.” Momodu wrote.
This is coming barely 12 hours after former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, also withdrew his membership from the opposition party.
Unlike Momodu, Atiku, in his letter leaked yesterday did not disclose his next party.
It is however obvious that the 2023 PDP Presidential candidate will join the ADC having led the opposition coalition group in adopting the party.
