Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, was all smiles on Tuesday after meeting President Bola Tinubu for the first time since his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
NPO Reported that Oborevwori had last month led a mass defection of Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) stakeholders and elected officials from the opposition party to the APC.
The governor and other defectors had cited the ongoing crisis within the PDP as reason for their mass movement to the ruling party.
Oborevwori was officially welcomed to the party at a rally held in Asaba with Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomole, amongst other dignitaries all in attendance.

Few weeks after the rally, Oborevwori made his first visit to Tinubu at the Presidential Villa which he disclosed in a post shared on his official X handle on Tuesday.
The governor expressed his delight in meeting with the President.
He disclosed that he engaged Tinubu in insightful conversation on establishing sustainable grow the for the future.
“It was an honour to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) earlier today at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja. We engaged in an insightful conversation that will unlock sustainable growth for the future.” Oborevwori wrote.
Tinubu also confirmed the governor’s visit in a statement issued on his official X handle on Tuesday.
He disclosed meeting Oborevwori alongside Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, with the trio deliberating meaningful discussions about the opportunities for sustainable growth in their states.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s committment to supporting and collaborating with state governments and sub-nationals to foster long-term development.
“Today, I met with the governors of Delta State and Ekiti State at the State House. We engaged in meaningful discussions about the opportunities for sustainable growth in their states and discussed the critical challenges they face.
“Our administration remains committed to supporting and collaborating with state governments and sub-nationals to foster long-term development and growth throughout Nigeria.
“I have long decided to take a bet on our dear country, Nigeria, and together, we must work tirelessly towards building a brighter future for all Nigerians. That is my Renewed Hope promise.”. Tinubu wrote.
