The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of its officers caught in a viral video counting money allegedly extorted from motorists.
NPO earlier Reported that the officers were, in the video shared on X on Tuesday, seen in their operation vehicle with wads of Naira notes counted by one of them.
The video had sparked mixed reactions from netizens who largely claimed that the money was proceeds from extortion derived from motorists.
Confirming the incident in a post on his X handle, the Delta Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, disclosed that four officers were involved and have since been arrested.
According to Edafe, two out of the erring policemen were senior officers who have been queried following their appearance before the state Police Commissioner.
The other two officers are inspectors who have been detained and awaiting an orderly room trial.
