Delta State Police Command has reacted the alleged arrest of yet-to-be identified lady by its officers over indecent dressing.
Officers alleged to be attached to the Command were on Monday captured in a now viral video forcing a lady into the patrol van with a caption by the X user who shared the video alleging that the lady was arrested due to her dress.
As seen in the video, the lady who was wearing a black t-shirt on a white bum short struggled to break free from the officer who persistently pushed her into the van.
Another lady who appeared to be her friend attempted to restrain the officer while a little stood helpless as she watched the scuffle between the officer and the lady.
While this had sparked outrage from netizens online, the Delta State Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, in a comment on the post, dismissed the claim of the lady’s arrest being connected to her dressing.
He questioned why the other lady in the who was also wearing a bump short was not arrested by the officer.
“There is no reason to believe that this is as a result of indecent dressing. Let’s ask ourselves, why is the other lady not being harassed? Any difference in their dressing?”
