The NPO Reports has learnt that officials of the Kogi State government have sealed premises of the Obajana cement factory in Kogi State.
At the time of filing this reports, the reason for the actin could not be independently verified.
But it was learnt that the entrance to the factory was marked sealed with the seals of the government firmly pasted on the gates.
It was gathered that the youths of the community had made many representations to the management of the company on the need to assuage the needs of the people who allegedly bear the brunt of the damages to the environments from the factory productions.
Their complaints had got to the attention of the House of Assembly alleged that Dangote which later invited the Dangote Group’s President, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
He was however said to have declined to appear before the House.
State Commissioner for Information in the state, Kingsley Fanwo, while responding to journalists’ questions, said, “It was found that no valid acquisition took place, as Dangote could not show evidence of what was paid as consideration for the acquisition.
“The Legislators invited the Chairman of the Company, Aliko Dangote, before the house for explanations but he failed to appear before the state Assembly, giving excuses.
The House of Assembly therefore ordered the closure of the company pending when they are able to present it with credible evidence of a valid acquisition.”
In the melee that ensue, one of the youths was reportedly shot by some men with gun who were allegedly hired to protect the company.
Governor Yahaya Bello according to information available to the NPO Reports, had ordered full investigation into the shooting incident insisting that the person responsible for the shooting must be fished out.
