Nigerian journalist and former Presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, has warned the Obidient Movements against inciting discord within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with their zeal to see the party’s Presidential ticket handed over their principal, Peter Obi, following his move to the party.
NPO Reported that Obi had last month defected to the ADC from the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 Presidential election.
His move to the coalition party alongside the Obidient Movement had however caused stir and controversies with some claims that the 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate may end up settling for the ADC Vice Presidential slot.
With the presence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and some other Presidential hopefuls such as former Rivers state governor, Rotimi AMAECHI, in the party, Obi’s chance of securing the ticket was considered slim.
Meanwhile, the Obidient Movement had rejected the Vice-Presidential slot rumour, stressing that their support for Obi is solely fueled by the desire to see him emerge as the Presidential candidate of the party.
Reacting in a statement issued on his official X handle on Tuesday, Momodu charged the ADC leadership to maintain its stance against the incitement of chaos within the party by overly ambitious groups.
While he did not directly mention the Obidient Movement, the Ovation Magazine publisher raised concern over the group’s aggression and tantrums.
He charged the ADC leadership to instill discipline, warning against allowing the party to become like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
