A mild drama has ensued on Thursday night following raid on illegal squatters by the Lagos State Taskforce as one of the arrested suspects was caught robbing another suspect’s money while locked in the Taskforce’s vehicle.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Friday by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
The Commissioner, in the statement, recounted how the Lagos environmental taskforce team had embarked on the midnight raid across several areas within the state’s capital, Ikeja.
According to Wahab, some of the areas raided in an effort to rid the state of criminal elements include LASUTH under-bridge, Ikeja under-bridge, and Ipodo street amongst other adjoining areas within Ikeja.
While confirming the arrest of 42 male and five female suspects, the Commissioner disclosed that one of the suspects, simply identified as Immoen, was caught with money stolen from another while been locked in the vehicle.
He said that all the arrested suspects will be charged to court accordingly
“On Thursday. 2nd May, 2025 at about 2.30a.m, the men from the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce team embarked on its clean up enforcement operation at Ikeja and its environs to rid the State of criminal elements.
“The areas visited during the operation includes; LASUTH under-bridge, Ikeja under-bridge, Ipodo Street and other adjoining areas within Ikeja where the presence of some undesirable elements was noticed.
“During the raid exercise, one of the miscreants arrested and locked in Taskforce vehicle, stole monies belonging to another Suspect in the vehicle.
“A total number of 42 male and 5 female suspects were arrested, and sanity was restored in all the areas.
“All the Suspects will be charged to court accordingly.” Wahab wrote
As captured in a video attached to the post, the 40-year-old suspect was seen with crumpled Naira notes squashed together in his hands.
