A mild drama unfolded at Bauchi on Friday as the state’s Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau, allegedly slapped the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar.
Jatau and Tuggar had reportedly engaged in a heated argument during the turbaning of former Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, as Makama Babba 1 of Bauchi Emirate.
As reported by Daily Post, eyewitnesses narrated that the clash ensued following Tuggar’s disparaging comments about the Bala Mohammed-led administration.
This had reportedly enraged the deputy governor who launched at the Foreign Affairs Minister in the presence of top political figures including Vice President Kashim Shettima and Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, among others.
“The Deputy Governor was visibly furious. It was a shocking moment. If not for Vice President Shettima’s swift intervention, it could have escalated badly,” an eyewitness said.
According to report, Tuggar had been a staunch critic of the PDP-led government in the state.
