Security personnel attached to the outgoing Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (Rtd) have on Wednesday staged a protest over the non-payment of their arrears.
The aggrieved security operatives comprising of some officials of the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) had at the Rivers government house demanded for their entitlement before the Ibas hand over to the returning governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara.
As captured in a video shared on X, the personnel alleged being owed all through the six-month of the administrator’s tenure.
They further challenged some of their superiors who came to appease with them as they decried their unfair treatment by the Ibas-led administration.
” We no dey again. Wetin! Which kind thing be dis one? For six months, hard labour, suffering. Wetin!” One of the personnel could be heard saying.
NPO Reported that Ibas tenure is set to hand over to Fubara on Thursday as the governor’s six-month suspension comes to an end.
Recall that Ibas was appointed by President Bola Tinubu on the 18th of March shortly after the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers.
Coupled with the declaration of the emergency rule which was necessitated by the political unrest in the state, Tinubu also declared the six months suspension of Fubara, his cabinet, and all members of the state House of Assembly.
