Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has on Tuesday created a scene at the courtroom as he confronted a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for allegedly intimidating and insulting him.
The drama ensued after the senior lawyer whose name is yet to be confirmed interrupted Sowore’s press briefing session held within the court room.
As captured in a video shared on the activist’s X handle on Tuesday, the lawyer had challenged Sowore, maintaining that the press briefing is meant to be held outside the court room and not within the chamber.
This would lead to verbal exchanges between the duo with Sowore accusing the lawyer of intimidating him over the confrontation.
“You are intimidating me and insulting my intelligence because you are introducing yourself to me as a SAN. So, what! I have SANs too that defend me and they know that when I come to court, I defend my matter.
“I’m waiting for the judge just as you are waiting for the judge. You are ordering me out. I’m not in your living room Sir. We are in the court.
“Even if we don’t have a case, we have the right to sit down in the gallery.” Sowore said
“So, are you sitting down in the gallery now?” The lawyer said as Sowore sat on the court’s desk.
This had however sparked mixed reactions from netizens with some commending the activist for confronting the lawyer while some slammed Sowore over what they considered as excesses and disruption of the law.
