Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, has said the security official who stopped his Deputy Phillips Shaibu, from approaching him during a church service on Sunday was only carrying out his official assignment.
Recall that an official of the Directorate of State Security had stopped the deputy governor from getting to the Governor where he was seated on Sunday during a church service to mark the 60 years of the Mid-West state referendum and 32 years of the creation of Edo state.

Besides, the governor was not aware that the deputy governor was coming to greet him. The church is a public event so the security aides had the duty to secure their principal,” Andrew Okungbowa, the Chief Press secretary
