Security Operatives on Monday took over the premises of the Lagos State House of Assembly, sealing the offices of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
This is coming on the heels of impeached speaker, Mudashiru Obasa’s return to the Assembly for the first time since his impeachment.
Members of the Lagos Assembly had, last month, impeached Obasa in absentia, replacing him with her former Deputy, Mojisola Meranda.
Following his return from the United States, Obasa rejected his impeachment, labelling it as illegal.
The ousted Speaker would, last week, sue the Assembly, challenging the legality of his removal in a motion filed at the Ikeja Division of the State High Court.
According to eyewitnesses, the armed security personnel arrived at the Assembly around 10am, taking over the premises at Alausa, Ikeja.
They were said to include men of the Directorate of State Security, Police, Task Force, Neighbourhood Watch and others.
Meanwhile, the new Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, arrived with her convoy at about 11.15am.
