As against the annual tradition of gathering on Easter Monday to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christians in Plateau State have used the platform to stage peaceful protest and express their grievances over the recent killings in the state.
The protesters led by the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Polycarp Lubo, took to the streets of Jos, the state capital, in agitation over the gunmen attacks over the past few weeks.
NPO Reported that no fewer than 47 people were killed in last week’s multiple attacks on Zike and Kimakpa communities in Iregwe Chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area by suspected herdsmen.
The attack came barely two after over 50 people were killed across Bokkos communities.
While the massacre had been heavily condemned, the Christian community also lend their voice on Monday.
As captured in a post shared on X, the protesters cladded in black and armed with placards containing different inscriptions were seen marching towards the Rayfield Government House.
Some were also seen with tree branches held in solidarity of the deceased.
