Labour Party has denied the withdrawal of its Edo governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, from the state’s gubernatorial election.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the party on Friday.
As contained in the statement, Labour Party labelled the withdrawal claims as false while reaffirming Akpata’s candidacy and readiness to go to poll.
The statement read in part; “The reports, or statements suggesting that Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party has stepped down from the election are completely false and are rumours being spread by Parties who have failed to put the Edo People First and know for certain that the people of Edo State would be massively voting for Olumide Akpata in the elections tomorrow.
“The Labour Party and its candidate remain fully committed to the electoral process and are actively participating in the race to bring about positive change and progress to Edo State.
“Any information to the contrary is a deliberate attempt to misinform the public, create confusion, and undermine the Party and our candidate’s resolve to serve the people of Edo State.
“We urge all our voters, supporters, stakeholders, and the public at large to disregard any such false claims or rumors. The Labour Party and its candidate Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata are standing firm in the race, and we are dedicated to the principles of transparency, good governance, and the betterment of Edo State.
“Furthermore, we advise that all information regarding the status of the Labour Party candidate should be obtained only from official party channels and verified sources. We remain confident in our candidate and in our ability to win this election with a landslide victory.”
