The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday said it’s operatives have arrested two owners of a Yahoo school alongside 7 others in Benin.
The owners of the Yahoo school called Internet Fraud Coaching (aka HK) were identified to be Osagie Ogiemwonyi and Onukwugho Favour with 7 of their students at the centre arrested alongside.
The seven student suspects were identified as Destiny Ohikwugbe, Chata Okoro, Ighodaro Omede, Ehigie Idemudia, Lawrence Daniel, Raymond Ogiemwonyi Oghosa and Henry Philip.
The commission stated that some of the items recovered from the suspects include a Mercedes Benz GLK, Lexus 350, phones and laptops.
The commission stated that the suspects will be arraigned as soon as investigations are finalized.
The EFCC in its statement said,
“Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC on September 13, 2022 arrested two owners of yahoo schools: Internet Fraud Coaching Centre (aka HK) & seven suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City, Edo State”
“The yahoo school owners, Osagie Ogiemwonyi and Onukwugho Favour and seven of their “students” were arrested at their centres following actionable intelligence worked upon by the Commission.”
“The seven others are Destiny Ohikwugbe, Chata Okoro, Ighodaro Omede, Ehigie Idemudia, Lawrence Daniel, Raymond Ogiemwonyi Oghosa and Henry Philip.”
“Items recovered from the suspects include a Mercedes Benz GLK, Lexus 350, phones and laptops.”
“The suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
