Mark Vincent Otse, brother of Nigerian social media influencer and activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of denying the activist medical treatment after allegedly brutalizing him.
Mark made the allegation in a video shared on his Instagram handle hours after the arrest of VeryDarkMan at a branch of Guarantee Trust Bank (GTBank).
NPO Reported that the activist had on Friday morning accompanied his mother to the bank to complain over the deduction of salary on settlement of a loan she allegedly collected.
Shortly after his arrival, a group armed men initial suspected to policemen stormed the bank, arresting VDM and his friend.
The activist lawyer, would however confirm that he was arrested by the officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and detained at their custody.
Recounting his brother’s arrest, Mark disclosed that attempt to bail VDM out of EFCC’s custody proved abortive as the anti-graft agency refused to release him.
He alleged the EFCC physically assaulted VDM and his friend while also turning down request to take him for medical treatment.
Marl further accused the commission of assaulting their mother in course VDM’s arrest.
“We’ve gone through the necessary channels. We made our calls and we’ve done everything we are meant to do today. So far so good, all we’ve done didn’t even work out. They have refused to allow VDM go back home for them- him and the other guy, to be treated because information getting to us is that they were messed up badly.
“Now they are refusing to release them to go and get proper treatment. I don’t know the agenda EFCC have against VDM. But whatever it is, GTBank, EFCC, all those people involved, you people know the story and you know how this is going to end. So, let’s watch and see if it is about power to the people or power for you guys.” Mark said.
