The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 48 suspected internet fraudsters in Abia State.
This was confirmed in a statement on the Anti-graft agency’s official X handle.
As contained in the statement, the suspects were arrested in different locations within Umudike area of Abia state.
Recovered from the suspects were 12 cars, 15 laptops, and 68 smartphones.
The statement read in part; “Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, have arrested forty-eight (48) suspected internet fraudsters in Umudike, Abia State.
“They were arrested on Friday, August 30, 2024 at different locations within Umudike, following actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet fraud.
“Items recovered from them include 12 exotic cars, 15 different brands of laptops and 68 expensive smartphones.
“They would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
