Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has urged Muslims to imbibe virtues of humility, kindness and forgiveness, which Eid-el-fitr emphasises.
Makinde made the call at the Ibadan Central Eid praying ground at Agodi, Ibadan, on Friday.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Mr Bayo Lawal, implored all Muslim faithful in the state to infuse the essence of Ramadan.
He said that the state had in the last one year witnessed developments in all ramifications, especially in the areas of stability, unity and peace.
Makinde appreciated all residents of the state for peaceful and harmonious coexistence.
‘’This made it possible for the administration to attain this developmental trajectory that we are pursuing,” he said.
The governor also appealed for the continued support of people of the state for his administration.
In his Eid-el-Fitr sermon, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulganiyy Agbotomokekere, implored all Muslims to sustain the good deeds practiced during the holy month.
Agbotomokekere also cautioned faithful against returning to the bad things they abstained from during the 30- day fasting.
He urged all the people of the state to embrace peaceful coexistence among themselves, irrespective of religious affiliation. NAN
