The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has confirmed the collapse of the National Grid.
NPO earlier Reported that the grid had in the early hours of Tuesday suffered another setback barely a week after recording it’s first collapse in 2026.
The latest collapse affected all the 11 DisCos across the country as they recorded a drastic drop in power supply from the 4,500 megawatts capacity to zero megawatts.
Confirming the development in a statement issued on its official, the EKEDC apologise to its customers over the inconveniences caused by the power outage caused by the grid collapse.
It assured that effort is ongoing in restoring the grid back to operation.
The statement read; Kindly be informed that there was a system collapse at 10:45hrs which has resulted to a los of power supply cross our network.
“We are currently working with out TCN partners as we see hope in the speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as the power is restored ”
In the same vein, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) also announced suffering operational setback due to the National Grid collapse.
PHEDC, in a statement also issued on it official X handle on Tuesday, urged it’s customers to exercise patience as they restore the grid.
“Kindly be informed that the outage currently experienced in all our franchise is due to grid collapse.
“We appeal to our esteemed customers to exercise patience as the relevant team is working tirelessly to restore power supply as soon as possible.” The statement read.
