Rules Out Chances of Sustainable Collaboration Between Atiku, Obi
- Safiu Kehinde
The Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has talked down the influence of former Kaduna state governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, in securing votes for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming 2027 Presidential election.
While acknowledging the individual strength of the opposition party members, Musawa however maintained that El-Rufai does not have the ability to secure votes for the ADC despite his threats and determination to oust President Bola Tinubu out of power.
The Minister made this known while speaking on Seun Okinbaloye’s Mic On Podcast show at the weekend.
Coupled with her claim of El-Rufai’s incapability, Musawa noted that ADC is overcrowded with polticial bigwigs with the same presidential ambition.
This, according to her will be difficult to resolve by the party and as such give Tinubu an edge over them in 2027.
“All members of the opposition there are formidable. All of them have obviously played their parts in Nigerian politics. They have reached the top of their career in politics.
“But obviously, I do not see, especially the way the opposition is emerging, I don’t see how the opposition as it is now can unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.
“I just don’t see it. I really don’t see it. You have an opposition that his overcrowded and you have an opposition of men who must be king. Every single member of that opposition is vying for the same spot and only for that spot. Nothing but that spot.
“That itself is a little bit of recipe for disaster.
“I don’t think Nasir El-Rufai is really a person that has the ability to take votes from Northwest.” She said.
Speaking on possible partnership between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi who joined the ADC late last year, Musawa doubted the sustainability of a collaboration between the duo considering the Obidient Movement’s push for Obi’s presidential ticket which will likely clash with Atiku’s undying presidential ambition.
“Of course, Atiku Abubakar factor is a factor because Atiku Abubakar is a patriot and a formidable Nigerian.
“Of course, we are not taking it lightly at all in terms of the fact that we have to do all we can to campaign and to deliver a second term for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. But if you Mr. Peter Obi together with Atiku Abubakar, somebody has to be President.
“How is that going to be resolved? Is it going to be combination of the 2019 ticket of Vice President Atiku Abubakar with running mate Peter Obi in which case I don’t think the Obidients will be very happy.
“And if it is the other way, I don’t see Peter Obi having the ability to govern the core Northern votes. Honestly, that just the truth.”Musawa added.
