The embattled former Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, is back at the Kaduna State High Court for the hearing of the suits filed against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission’s (ICPC).
El-Rufai arrived at the court’s premises in the early hours of Tuesday.
His appearance at the court came barely two days after the burial of his late mother, Umma El-Rufai, who died last week.
Prior to her demise, El-Rufai was in the ICPC’s custody.
He was earlier this month arraigned on two different charges filed by the ICPC.
One of the charges contained counts ranging from alleged money laundering and abuse of power.
While the court had postponed the case, El-Rufai was returned to the ICPC’s custody pending the hearing of his bail application.
The death of his mother last week would however lead to a temporary release of the ex-Kaduna governor for the burial of his mother.
Having laid his mother to rest on Sunday, El-Rufai resumed his litigation case today as he appeared before the court.
He was also billed to appear at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the hearing of his bail application.
The former Governor, decked in a blue fully embroidered Babariga, was brought to the court in a white Hilux Van and was sandwiched in-between security men.
