Hadiza El-Rufai, wife embattled former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has accused officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of taking away her bank token devices during a raid on the El-Rufais’ residence in Abuja.
NPO Reported that the ICPC had during the weekend stormed the residence of the ex-Kaduna governor where they allegedly discovered wiretapping equipment as part of the ongoing investigation.
The family had however denied the alleged discovery of equipment in a statement issued on Monday by El-Rufai’s son, Bashir.
They claimed the items carted away by the ICPC officials were old laptops and electronic gadgets with Hadiza accusing the anti-graft agency of lying.
Meanwhile, the former Kaduna first lady would on Tuesday call out the ICPC officials for allegedly taking away her three bank token devices.
Hadiza, in a sarcastic post on her X handle, swear that the gadgets are not wiretapping equipment.
“You forgot to mention that you also took away my bank tokens. I swear to God, they are not wiretapping equipment.” She wrote.
Attached to the post was picture of the three bank token devices with two identified to be issued by the Guarantee Trust Bank (GTCO), and the United Bank of Africa (UBA).
Recall that the ICPC had detained El-Rufai shortly after his release by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) last month.
The ex-Kaduna governor had handed himself over the EFCC following alleged financial misappropriation.
While in the EFCC custody, the Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned him to court on alleged cybercrime charge which emanated from his confession of intercepting the telephone conversation of the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu.
The hearing of DSS’ case was however stalled on account of ICPC’s continued detention of El-Rufai.
This would be followed by the raid of the ex-Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister’s house where wiretapping equipment were allegedly found.
