The embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been remanded in Kuje prison.
This was sequel to his arraignment on Friday by the Federal Government on allegations over procurement fraud while in office.
The court remanded Emefiele in the Kuje Correctional Centre pending November 22, when the court will rule on his application for bail. NPO Reports that Emefiele is answering to a six count charge around procurement fraud.
Since his suspension from office in June shortly after the swearing in of President Bola Tinubu, Emefiele has been at the centre of arrests and detention over various allegations over handling of affairs at the nation’s apex financial institution.
