Former Chelsea goalkeeper, Petr Čech, has announced his divorce with his wife, Martina, after 26 years together.
Čech, in an emotional message shared on Instagram, confirmed the end of their marriage, posting a black-and-white photo of Martina kissing him on the cheek.
While the cause of the divorce was not disclosed, the legendary goalkeeper maintained that he and Martina remains best friend despite the spit.
“Martina and I are sad to announce that we are separating after 26 years together,
“We remain best friends and are immensely proud of our two children.” he said.
According to report, Čech and Martina first crossed paths as teenagers in 1999, tying the knot four years later in June 2003.
Their daughter Adela, 17, plays as a defender for the Czech Republic Under-17 national team, while their 16 year old son Damian is pursuing a career between the posts, having recently signed his first professional deal with Fulham.
Čech became one of the most decorated goalkeepers in Premier League history following his move to Chelsea from Rennes in 2004 for £7 million.
He made 494 appearances and helped the club to four league titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, and their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy in 2012.
He later moved to Arsenal in 2015, where he lifted another FA Cup before hanging up his gloves in 2019.
Čech had since ventured into ice hockey as a goalkeeper and also served as Chelsea’s technical and performance advisor, leaving the role in 2022 after Todd Boehly’s takeover of the club.
