Ex-CPC Leaders Demand APC Chairmanship, Back Al-Makura
Former leaders of the Congress for Progressive Change, one of the political parties that merged to form the All Progressive Congress on Thursday demanded to have the national chairmanship of the party.
The APC is set to elect new leadership at the convention slated to hold on March 26, this year.
Leaders of the CPC component of the APC, while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Thursday said they were backing former Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for the national chairmanship of the party.
Okoi Obono-Obla, who read the position of the CPC leaders at the conference, said many people in the APC today do not remember how the party came into existence.
They said the ideals of the CPC must not be obliterated in the APC.
The position of the national chairmanship of the party has been zoned to the North-Central geo-political zone.
