Former Super Eagles player, Segun Odegbami, has shown off his dream car which was unveiled at the Changan Festive Night 24′ event held on Friday at Changan House, Lagos.
Odegbami, in an article titled ‘2025 and my Dream Car!’ and posted on his Facebook page, recounted how his friend invited him to the unveiling of the 2025 model of Changan cars invented in partnership with Mikano motors.
His friend had advised to change his seven-year-old SUV after complaining of its high rate of fuel consumption.
While admitting not to be a car freak, Odegbami had attending the event, where he also met popular Nigerian movie producer and director, Tunde Kelani, with the hope of getting a cost-effective and fuel-efficient new car.
The retired international football star would encounter the 2025 Changan X7 and Changan CS 95 models which he described as his dream cars based on its big size, affordable, state of the art technology, space-age interior and exterior designs, as well as supreme fuel efficiency amongst other qualities.
“I am not a car freak. My SUV is 7 years old. It is a very big, reliable and rugged ‘monster’ made for Nigerian roads.
“Unfortunately, for a nomad like me, this fuel-gulping, 140-litre tank, 8-cylinder engine can become a financial burden with the present astronomical cost of petrol.
‘What to do?’
‘Buy a new car’, my friend says to me.
“How can I do that NOW? The cost of a new car that will meet my car requirements under the present excruciating economic climate is surely beyond the affordability of a retired, aging ex-international football star. So, I think.
“Then, as has become usual, He shows up..again!!
“From the blue, Nath Udeh, my financial expert bosom friend, sends me a special invitation from MIKANO and says I must attend. When Nath says ‘jump’, I only ask ‘how high?’.
“I already know the excellence of Mikano’s most known product – Generators. I have been a user for 2 decades – at home, in the sports academy, at the radio station and new Garden. Anything with the signature of Mikano is a winner.
“Nath tells me about Mikano’s partnership with Changan, a Chinese conglomerate, and their new venture into the production of automobiles for the African market with Nigeria as epicenter.
“I like the audacity of this venture. It is anchored to a solid background.
“That’s how TK (Tunde Kelani – foremost filmmaker and cinematographer) and I honour the invitation to ‘Changan House’ a magnificent, high-rise, super-structure in the heart of Lagos.
“It is a great evening of razzmatazz, a spectacle of flashing lights and dazzling displays.
“Finally, the ‘machine’ is unveiled. It is the stuff of sci-fi. It ticks all the boxes of my Dream Car – big, luxurious, affordable, state of the art technology, space-age interior and exterior designs, rugged, supreme fuel efficiency, even a massage seat, and a 6-year warranty.
“Now, I can’t wait for 2025 to birth. I shall attempt to become one of the first owners of my Dream Car, the Changan X7 Plus or the Changan CS 95.
“Pictures do not lie.”. Odegbami wrote.
