A former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, has called for the cancellation of the ongoing local government election in the state over alleged plot to rig poll.
The ex-deputy governor, who served under President Bola Tinubu’s governorship administration of the state from 1999 to 2002, made the call at her polling unit as Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Saturday.
Kofoworola disclosed how polling units are being relocated across the council which made her unable to vote as her name was found in the list of her polling unit.
According to her, she was supposed to vote in front of Eko Hotel but had her polling unit transferred to Ajose Adeoku street where her name still failed to appear on the voters’ register list.
“The observation is that obviously, there is plan to rig this election because people have not been able to vote in their units.

“When you get to your unit, they said they are given them a list of names. I have been to my own unit, my name is not there.
“The unit which I suppose to be in front of Eko Hotel, they have brought them here to Ajose Adeoku. Many people are unable to vote as they have completely disrupted all the polling units.” She said.
Kofoworola called for the cancellation of the election, alleging that the polling units were deliberately disrupted in order enabling rigging in favour of one party over the others.
“I’m calling for the cancellation of this election because there is a clear effort to rig the election in favour of one party. Otherwise, why is that units are being disrupted and placed in the wrong place?” The ex-deputy governor asked.
