Former Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Laureta Onochie, has hinted alleged plan by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to expel members of the Buharists, the support group of later former President, Muhammadu Buhari, from the party.
Onochie made this known in a post shared on her official X handle on Monday.
The ex-NDDC boss however expressed readiness to exit the APC as she charged the party to make the move.
“So, a decision has been reached by the owners of APC, to expel Buharists from the party. Me: Be Quick about it. Please. Thank you in advance.” She wrote.
The Buharists who comprised of loyalists to the late former President and members of the now defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) had since the demise of their principal became divided.
Some factions of the group pledged their loyalty to the leadership of the APC under President Bola Tinubu while others pegged their tent at the oppositions’ camp.
Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, had last week announced hosting some members of the former CPC State Chairmen at his residence.
He disclosed advising them to encourage their supporters to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration
In reaction, the Forum of the CPC State Chairmen distanced itself from the visit of the members to Atiku.
The Forum in a statement issued on Saturday by its National Chairman, Kasim Mabo, and signed by other leaders, clarified that out of its 37 members, only 16 have pledged their support to Atiku while 20 others are in the same boat with Tinubu.
