Former Minister of Youths and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi has said the ongoing strik by the Academic Staff Union of Universities is an I’ll-wind that would blow no one any good.
Abdulahi said the strike has the capacity to increase crimes, drugs and other vices with those he called “frustrated youths” everywhere.
The former minister said in a tweet on Tuesday that there is no sign of seriousness on the part of all those concerned .
“This ASUU strike is a national shame. We need different approach from all involved. Interests of students should come first. In the end, we all lose. We can’t continue this and complain of rising crime, drugs and poor quality of graduates. Frustrated youths everywhere.”
The Union on Monday announced it was proceeding on another three months of strike after accusing the Federal government of failure to negotiate over its demands.
The university teachers are demanding better funding of education and better remuneration of its personnel.
