A video of the Governor of Osun, Senator Demola Adeleke has gone viral where he was seen crying like a baby.
The said video, according to most of those sharing it, showed the Governor sobbing and using his hands to cover his face in tears.
The claim was that the governor, who was just sacked by the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal on the grounds of over-voting, was shedding tears as a result of the decision of the tribunal.
NPO Reports however fact-checked the video and the accompanying claims and found it to be false.
It was learnt that the video (not more than 10 seconds in length) was cut out from an interview with Seun Okinbaloye of Channels Television, Lagos in the wake of the victory of the Governor in the July 16, 2022 governorship poll where was declared the winner.
According to Mr. Wale Rasheed, Adeleke’s spokesman, the governor burst into tears during the interview when the interviewer (Okinbaloye) asked him a question bordering on Adeleke’s late brother, Alhaji Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke
Adeleke died on April 23, 2017.
The sudden death of Adeleke had created tension in Osun at the time.
