A video has gone viral claiming that the defeated presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, was in Lagos on Thursday March 16 to mobilise support for the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
The video was posted by the Labour Party via its verified handle, @NGLabour and was shared by many others on different social media platforms such as the facebook and whatsapp.
The tweet was accompanied by a message “H E Peter OBI in Ladipo, Lagos to campaign for LP Gubernatorial Candidate, Mr Gbadebo. See massive love. Peter Obi is coming! A New Nigeria Is Possible! ”
However, checks by the NPO Reports revealed that the claim was false. At the time the video, which showed a massive crowd and with many shouting Obi’s name, the LP presidential candidate was in Anambra state.
Another check done by the NPO Reports was through the party’s Spokesman, Dr. Tanko Mohammed, who however said he would get back after conforming but he never did.
