A fallen waste truck that crashed into the Lagos lagoon on Monday, has been recovered by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency on Sunday.
It was gathered that,the truck fell into the lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge at the Iyana-Oworoshonki section of the bridge.
LASEMA had on Friday announced the diversion of on Third Mainland Bridge in a statement signed by the spokesperson of the agency,Taofeek Adebayo noted that,the operation would start around 1pm today, Sunday.
“Consequently,there will be road closure and traffic diversion on the Third Mainland Bridge for motorists moving from Lagos Island to connect the Mainland through Iyana Oworonshoki while the recovery operation is ongoing.
“In order to avoid delay and inconvenience during the recovery exercise, the following alternative routes are advised for motorists coming from Lagos Island and Mainland (Ebute-Metta) towards Iyana Oworonshoki on the Third Mainland Bridge.
“From Victoria Island/Ikoyi/ Lagos Island, use the Carter Bridge to Ijora Olopa by LAWMA Headquarters to the Eko Bridge, to Funsho Williams Avenue (old Western Avenue), to Dorman-Long Bridge, to Ikorodu Road through Fadeyi and connect desired destinations.
“Alternatively,use the Carter Bridge to Iddo to Oyingbo to Herbert Macaulay Way to Jibowu to Ikorodu Road and connect desired destinations. From Victoria Island/Ikoyi/ Lagos Island; to Mainalnd (Ebute-Mette); use Adekunle interchange to Herbert MacUalay Way to connect desired destinations.
He added that, motorists moving from the Mainland inwards Lagos Island are not affected by this recovery exercise on the Third Mainland Bridge.

“While seeking the cooperation and support of all road users/motorists, said security and traffic management personnel would be deployed to all the alternative routes to ensure free flow of traffic, safety and security of all road users.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this scheduled recovery exercise may cause”.
The operation which started around 3pm today, was concluded at about 5pm. caused gridlock on the ever busy Third Mainland Bridge.
Announcing the reopening of the road on its twitter handle at 4:35pm on Sunday,the Lagos State Maintenance Agency (LASTMA)wrote,”Road has been reopened for vehicular flow.”
