The deceased tricycle passenger, Rahmon, who was reported dead weeks after being beaten by a chieftain of the Lagos National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Shamusideen Oladiti, has been buried by his family.
NPO Reported that the demise of Rahmon on the 17th of September and assault on a dispatch rider the same day had led to the arrest of Oladiti, popularly known as Shamelon.
Prior to his arrest, the death of Rahmon had sparked public outrage as angry residents stormed his base on the Island and burnt down two of his motorcycles.
Shamelon was eventually arraigned before the court by the Lagos State Police Command last week Tuesday.
Ahead of the hearing, protesters and mourners had gathered at the court’s premises in demand for justice for Rahmon.
Videos from the court premises showed the protesters chanting with “Justice for Rahman and others”.
Meanwhile, the late Rahmon was on Wednesday laid to rest.
A video of his funeral service held in a church was shared on X with clergymen seen rendering prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
Friends and family members were also in attendance at the funeral of the late Rahmon held in a white garment church.
