Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential candidate, Peter Obi has described the ordeal of Human Rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, as an example of courage in the face of adversity with his bold stand for good governance.
Obi stated this in a post on his official X handle on Friday following his visit to the embattled lawyer.
“Dele Farotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation. I wish him a fruitful and productive year as we continue to work together toward the development of our country.” Obi wrote.
Recall that former Anambra state governor had pledged to sponsor Farotimi’s bail after weeks of being remanded over a defamation lawsuit filed against him by Chief Afe Babalola (SAN).
The lawyer was eventually granted bail late last month after meeting his bail conditions.
Meanwhile, Obi disclosed that he has never visited him since his release.from the correctional centre in Ekiti.
This prompted the former Anambra state governor to meet with Farotimi after his visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday.
“Yesterday, following my visit and meeting with President Obasanjo, I made time to visit my dear younger brother, Dele Farotimi. Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him. I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria.” Obi stated.
