Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been deployed to their polling units as the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council Election goes underway.
Pictures shared on X on Saturday showed the arrival of INEC officials assigned to Polling Unit 001 at Kuje Central Ward, Kuje Area Council.
The officials reportedly arrived around 7:13am but are yet to setup the election materials for the poll.
NPO Reported that the FCT council election is slated to hold in 2,822 polling units across the six Area Councils which include Abaji, AMAC, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali.
Ahead of the election, INEC confirmed that over 1.5 million registered voters have collected their Permanent Voters Cards and set for the election.

As further highlighted by the commission, Abaji Area Council recorded 75,517 collected PVCs out of 79,471 registered voters, representing 95.0 per cent collection rate.
Bwari Area Council, on the other hand, recorded 276,360 collected PVCs out of 295,711 registered voters, translating to 93.5 per cent.
In Gwagwalada Area Council, 196,184 PVCs were collected out of 208,057 registered voters, representing 94.3 per cent.

Kuje Area Council recorded 144,109 collected PVCs out of 148,286 registered voters, representing an outstanding 97.2 per cent collection rate.
In the same vein, Kwali Area Council recorded 99,774 collected PVCs out of 107,203 registered voters, representing 93.1 per cent.
Municipal Area Council, on its part, recorded 795,081 collected PVCs out of 841,587 registered voters, representing 94.5 per cent.
