Against the backdrop of his ongoing sexual harrasment scandal, female legislative aides of the Senate have conferred an award of honour on Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, for being gender-friendly, inclusive, and fair.
The group, at the event held on Friday, expressed their solidarity with Akpabio as they lauded him for his support and benevolence to the women of the 10th Senate.
This is coming under the heels of the sexual harrasment allegation melted against him by the suspended Kogi lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
NPO reported that days after her clash with the Senate President at the Red Chamber, Natasha had in an interview on Arise TV last month accused him of making sexual advances towards.
She claimed the incident occured in 2023 at Akpabio’s residence in Akwa-Ibom.
The allegation had since sparked controversies and mixed reactions from members of the public.
Prominent Nigerians such as Oby Ezekwesili and Atiku Abubakar amongst others have all called for thorough investigation into the allegations.
Meanwhile, the Senate, on Thursday, slammed six months suspension on Natasha as well as stoppage of her salary and other emoluments over her clash with the Senate President.
