The Federal Government has appointed the Chief Executive Officer of RTC Advisory Services, Opeyemi Agbaje, as the new Chairman of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Sunday,
While there is no official confirmation of his appointment yet, the financial advisor had on via his X handle, reposted a report announcing his appointment as the PENCOM Chairman.
According to the reports, Agbaje’s appointment was borne out of the Nigerian Labour Congress’ (NLC) threat to go on strike over the Federal Government’s reluctance to constitute governing board for PENCOM.
The NLC had at the end of its Central Working Committee meeting held on the 13th of August demanded the constitution of the PenCom Governing Board in line with the law within seven working days.
It also requested PenCom’s submission of a full status report of the funds within the same seven days.
According to Punch, the news of Agbaje’s appointment was confirmed by some sources within the NLC as well as some industry officials.
Agbaje, a lawyer and banler, is also the founder of RTC Advisory Services Ltd.
He has worked with leading institutions including banks and financial institutions, multinationals and conglomerates, state governments and federal government agencies and departments, and businesses across different sectors including payments, FINTECHS, real estate, technology and communications, manufacturing and FMCGs and multilateral institutions.
He is a policy strategist, analyst, and governance expert with over 3 decades of experience in consulting and strategy for State Governments, multinational corporations and organizations.
The former Ogun State Security Trust Fund Chairman is also a public policy analyst who has featured in several notable mainstream national and international media platforms, providing deep insights on policies, socio-economic development, financial market integration and governance.
