Over one year after his demise, the Federal Government has donated N30 million to the family of late Nigerian flag designer, Pa Taiwo Akinkumi.
The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Lanre Isaa-Onilu, delivered a cheque of N30 million to the family during a working visit to the Oyo state directorate of the agency in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Thursday.
According to reports, the DG who was in Oyo state to hold a sensitisation meeting with the Tankers Drivers Association at Tanker Park, Akinyele/ Moniya, later paid a visit to Pa Akinkunmi’s residence.
At the family house, the NOA DG described the late designer of the Nigerian flag as a legend noted that for the country to stick to the design to date is indicative of the respect the entire nation accords to it.
He presented the cheque of N30 million to the family as a fulfilment of the promise made by the federal government to the family during his burial.
The DG maintained that the support would not be a one-off thing, and the visitation would continue from time to time.
