The Federal Government has made move to reduce automobile crash as it inaugurate the National Road Safety Advisory Council (NaRSAC).
This was disclosed in a post on X by Nigerian Vice President, Kashim Shettima, who inaugurated in Abuja on Friday.
According to the Shettima, the council was inaugurated in an effort to with align with global best practices in reducing traffic crashes.
The Vice President tasked the council to set National Road Safety Strategy targets and ensure effective coordination between Federal, State, and Local Governments to achieve shared road safety objectives.
He emphasized on the critical nature of road safety, stating while speaking at the event.
“Road safety is not merely a matter of policy but a critical part of the lifeline that connects the people of this nation” He said.
Shettima, however, lauded the Federal Road Safety Corps’s (@FRSCNigeria) commitment, stressing that the Corps has “consolidated a robust strategy to address the nation’s road traffic challenges” in its relatively short existence.
He reinstated that the establishment of NaRSAC aligns with recommendations from the World Bank Country Capacity Review, which identified areas for improvement in Nigeria’s road traffic administration and safety management.
