The Federal Government has finally named Iwo, Osun State has one of the locations of the six Federal Colleges of Education.
There has been lot of controversies on the selection of Iwo for the college of education, while some supported the move, others kicked against it, the latest of which was the protest by some Ila town youths on Sunday, demanding that the Federal College be located in the town.
In a statement signed by Ben Bem Goong, the Director (Press and PR) Federal Ministry of Education, on Monday, other locations for the colleges are Bauchi (Jama'are in Jama'are LG), Benue (Odugbo in App LG), Ebonyi (Isu in Onicha LG), Edo (Ekiadolor in Ovia North East LG) and Sokoto (Gidan Madi in Tangaza LG).
The statement added that the take-off of the colleges would be in October 2020.
The statement reads in part, "The attention of the Federal Ministry of Education has been drawn to the mutilation of official correspondence between the Federal Ministry of Education and the Government of Osun state over the location of the newly approved Federal College of Education in the state, which has been widely circulated in the social and conventional media.
"Letters to this effect have already gone to the relevant Governors, while a Technical Team from the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) will be visiting the benefitting states to inspect and assess the sites in the coming weeks, all in preparation for the take-off of the Colleges in October 2020."
