The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Zach Adedeji, has declares that he is not going to contest in the state’s 2027 governorship election.
Adedeji disclosed this while speaking in a video posted on X on Saturday.
As seen in the video, the FIRS boss, who was addressing the congregation at an Anglican Church, said that he has effectively served the state during his tenure as the Commissioner of Finance.
While stating that some may not be happy with his decision, Adedeji explained that he does not want to be distracted by the governorship election.
He, however, sought the congregation’s prayer for strength in exercising his duties.
“One message I want to give and I want to use this to respond to lots of requests. I, Zaach Adedeji, will not contest for governorship election in 2027.
“I know a lot of people will not be happy about this, but everybody that knows the responsibility and grace that the Almighty has given to us, I was Commissioner of Finance 14 years ago.
“By that time, with the grace of God, we have done all what God want us to do in the state. He has given us that platform.
“So the only thing I need from you is your prayer that the Lord give me strength to end this well. I don’t want to be distracted.” Adedeji said.
