No fewer than five people have been injured in an explosion that heavily damaged a church in upstate New York city, United States.
This was confirmed in a statement issued by the New York State Police.
According to the police, gas odour was reported inside the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in the town of Boonville, Oneida County, police said in a statement.
A firefighter who was inside the church when the explosion occurred on Tuesday was, alongside another civilian, critically injured.
The duo and three other injured victims have been taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the cause of the explosion.
As at Tuesday afternoon, police said that there are no signs of any criminal activity involved in the explosion.
