Urges Residents to Stay Away from LG Secretariat
- Safiu Kehinde
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to stay away from local government secretariats as he claimed that five members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been killed with several others injured during the ongoing violence in the state.
The governor, who had earlier raised alarm over the crisis on Sunday directed the residents including politicians across political divides to stay away from the LG secretariats across the state to protect public properties and avoid further bloodshed.
Adeleke gave the directive in a statement issued on state government’s official X handle on Monday.
According to him, two PDP members were killed in Ola Oluwa local government with three others killed at Iragbiji, Boripe, and Ikire respectively.
While attributing the incident on the current illegal bid by the APC to take over the LGAs state, Adeleke affirmed that only security agencies should be allowed to man the secretariats since the local government workers are on strike.
“I therefore direct all law-abiding Osun residents to stay away from the council secretariats especially as they are expected to be under lock and key.
“I equally condole families of victims of the APC illegal takeover bid and chaos unleashed across the state by the APC and their hired thugs.
“PDP lost five members with several others wounded. Two of those members are from Iragbiji, Boripe local government.
“Another two were killed at Ola Oluwa Local government. Another one was lost at Ikire. We must stop the bloodshed”, the Governor lamented.
He assured residents of their safety and protection of lives and properties, affirming that he has directed security agencies to take charge of all local government secretariats.
