A Nigerian Real Estate lawyer has lamented over his ordeal after his car got trapped in a flooded Lagos’ road with touts heavily charging him before offering to help push the car out of the flood.
Recounting his ordeal in a post on his Instagram handle on Wednesday, the legal practitioner simply identified as Omonile lawyer, disclosed getting stuck in the flooded Gbagada road which linked to the Third Mainland bridge.
Videos attached to the post showed the car alongside other vehicles submerged by water along the road.
The lawyer disclosed that the water was at his neck level and nearly drowned while swimming to safety.
He then recounted how the touts popularly known Agbero heavily charged him before eventually assisting in pulling the car out of the flood.
While he was able to strike a N20,000 negotiation with the touts, Omonile lawyer disclosed paying additional N95,000 for towing vehicle service to tow the car home.
Another clip showed moment his mechanic dismantled the car’s water-filled engine, which was declared damaged beyond repair, leaving the lawyer is disarray as he was told getting a fairly used engine would cost between N1.8 million to N2.5 million.
Omonile lawyer narrated; “This happened at Gbagada road linking the 3rd Mainland bridge opposite Burger King.
“The flood was so much that when I came down from the Car, the water was almost by my neck. I was literally swimming to cross the road and falling into different deep gutters because the floor covered the gutters.
“I was lucky not to get drowned but got injured in the process. To push the car out of the flood, the Agberos collected ₦20,000 from me despite all the begging.
“They showed Zero Sympathy and said its the only way they can see money to eat, and their prayers have been answered.
“The towing vehicles made serious money towing numerous cars. I spent ₦95,000 to tow the car back home and this is with serious begging and haggling.
“Mechanic checked the car and confirmed that the Engine has Knocked. I Inquired about a new Tokunbo Engine and I was told between ₦1.8million to ₦2.5million. I am in tears!!! Which kin wahala be this😢 😢 😢”
