Two days after sparking public outrage, telecommunication network service provider, MTN, has begged its Nigerian customers over the sudden 200 percent hike in price of its 15G data bundle plan.
The hike saw the data plan which initially cost N2,000 skyrocketed to N6,000 amid ongoing controversies and agitation surrounding the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) approval of 50 percent hike in telcos tariff.
MTN had, however, shocked Nigerians with the 200 percent hike which generated backlash from customers and netizens,
The telecommunication giant would eventually take to its official X handle on Thursday to apologize for the sudden development.
In a statement written in pidgin English, MTN urged Nigerians to forgive and forget, claiming that it was a mistake.
“You dey vex. We know. We know how upsetting it must have been to suddenly wake up to a 200% increase on your favourite digital bundle.
“We could share several reasons, and provide explanations, but omo, all that one na story.
“In this love season, don’t stay angry wth us. Please forgive and forget.
“You matter die and we will never stop showing you how much.
“Let’s continue our relationship.
“Thank you for your understanding” MTN wrote.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) had yesterday declared boycott of the network service provider alongside Airtel, and GLO over the hike.
