Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has converted to Islam.
The 33-year-old defender, who currently plays for Qatar Stars League side Al-Ahli, was seen in a video reciting the Shahadah in Doha, Qatar.
Troost-Ekong moved to the Arab region in 2024 after joining Saudi Arabian club Al-Khaleej.
He subsequently switched to Qatar, signing an 18-month contract with Al-Ahli in January 2026.
He has since made 14 appearances for the club across all competitions, including one appearance this season.
The defender represented Nigeria at senior level from 2015 to 2025, making 83 appearances and scoring eight goals for the Super Eagles.
He was part of Nigeria’s squad that reached the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where he was named the tournament’s best player.
