The end may not have come to the stalemate in the the Universities as Lecturers claim they only got half of their October salaries
There is fresh tension in the nation’s Universities as Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities on Thursday claimed that the Federal Government had only paid half of their October salary.
Independent findings by the NPO Reports indicated that the half salary was true.
Those who spoke with the NPO Reports Thursday evening said the development would jeopardize the peace reached with the union earlier in October.
ASUU had called off it’s 9 month old strike in October after the intervention by the House of Representatives led by its Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila.
ASUU president Prof Emmanuel Osodeke had lauded the House of Representatives saying that had the Ministers of Education and Labour and Productivity had handled the matter better, the strike would not have dragged for that long.
Attempts to speak with the President of ASUU had not yielded at press time as his phone number remained busy.
